Maria Brown

Maria Jessica Brown, AA & BFA, is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in San Antonio, Texas, who graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BFA in Studio Arts (Painting Concentration) and a minor in Art History. Born in Texas, she spent her childhood and adolescence relocated to the Florida panhandle for her father's construction job, where being deprived of culture during these formative years sparked her artistic journey as a form of escapism to discover her true identity. Her primary media of choice include oil on canvas, oil on found objects, assemblage, ceramic sculpture, and photography. Furthermore, she was awarded the "Working Artist Grant" from CAM (Contemporary Art Month) in 2024 and was a selected artist in the 2025 Marfa Invitational Open.
